SBH Queensland employs 4 occupational therapists and 2 physiotherapists to work with children and adolescents. Their role is very broad. They offer

a consultancy service to local service providers, especially school staff and other therapists. |

direct services to members, including assessments for aids and equipment, assessments and programs for development, learning and toileting. |

outreach trips to regional and rural areas of Queensland. |

Inservice training programs to teachers and other therapists. |

Group programs, such as self-esteem workshops, camps and wheelchair skills clinics. |
Physiotherapist, Elizabeth, teaches a young member how to go down the kerb at a Wheelchair Skills Clinic. Three clinics are run each year to teach children skills such as getting into and out of their wheelchair from a car, chair, bed, the floor etc., how to maintain the wheelchair and how to manoeuvre it around everyday obstacles in the environment.
