Government funding

SBH Queensland receives 70% of its funding from 2 government departments. The major funder, Education Queensland, provides funding to support children’s education.

Funding is also received from the Queensland Department of Communities – Disability Services which partially funds a program to support adults with spina bifida and hydrocephalus.

Community support

SBH Queensland relies on the support of many generous people and businesses. Two of our most noteworthy supporters are the Southern Cross Association and SSKB Strata Managers and Community Experts

The Southern Cross Association began supporting us with a 5 day poker run through Central Queensland in 1998. The run is held every year in the first week of September which is Spina Bifida Awareness Week. The  Poker Run has grown from modest beginnings and now about $40,000 is raised every year and donated to SBH Queensland.  Details of the Poker Run appear on the Southern Cross Association website.

SBH Queensland receives many other donations both large and small from many people and businesses. The continuing support allows SBH Queensland to provide services to children with spina bifida and their families as well as adults with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus.

On behalf of all who benefit from their support we would like to give our sincerest thanks.

Some of the ways that you can help the work of SBH Queensland are by making a donation, becoming a member or leaving a bequest to the association in your will. Please contact us for more information on how you can help us with our work.
