It is with great pleasure that I can announce to you that the Association has now entered into a formal resource agreement with the Department of Education. At a ceremony to mark the signing of the agreement, the Deputy Director-General (Corporate Services) Frank Young, said he believed the arrangement was the first of its kind between the Department and an outside organization.
This agreement confirms the high regard in which the Department of Education holds our Association.
The other exciting news is the way that Spina Bifida Awareness Week (September 1st to 7th) is shaping up. Firstly the Wheel and Walk (a walkathon) will be held on September 1st with major prizes of a Five-Day Heron Island Holiday for Two People including airfares, accommodation and meals, and an Optus Mobile Phone. All walkers will receive give-aways from Sanitarium who are producing folate fortified Weet Bix. Please come along and make this a memorable Fathers Day.
Media interviews are currently being organized with a focus on information, folate fortification and being an adult with spina bifida.
Badges depicting a SPINASAURUS, are going to be sold in schools to help us promote spina bifida awareness.
If you can help or you would like more information, please phone me on (07) 3394 3822.
I look forward to seeing you at our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday September 11th.
