Where is Queensland?

If your geography is not up to scratch, here's a short lesson on the Sunshine State.

Queensland's population is just short of 4 million, 65% of whom, live in the South East corner around the capital Brisbane. The main office of SBH Queensland is in Brisbane, but we also have an office in Townsville, 1600 kilometres or 1000 miles north of Brisbane.

Queensland is the second largest state in Australia. It covers about 1 727 200 sq km. That is two and a half times the size of Texas if you live in the US, or 83 times the size of Wales for those in Britain.

The map on the right will give you some idea of the size of Australia compared to Europe.

The Tropic of Capricorn runs through Queensland putting most of the state in the tropics.
